Mia Davis began her career as a corporate trainer and a human resources manager for a major healthcare company.  Ultimately, she followed the path that her high school Anatomy and Physiology teacher predicted for her and became an educator.  She soon discovered her passion for finding unique and “out of the box” ways for helping the full range of students, despite their particular challenges, learn and to be successful in the classroom. Mia earned her degree in Biology and Chemistry from Georgia State University.  She then went on to obtain her Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University.  She served as a high school science educator for 14 years at one of Georgia’s top 100 public schools.  She has expanded her teaching experience by currently serving as a virtual Biology teacher for one of the state’s online education programs.

She believes that being an active participant in enhancing one’s community is important to building strong communities.  Working with a local organization, Mia leads a yearly Back to School Celebration that provides food, haircuts, entertainment, and backpacks filled with school supplies for families in need.  She also volunteers her time at a large food bank to organize collections and distribute food and supplies to Georgia churches and smaller food banks.  To support local adults in the homeless shelter, she gives time tutoring those who needed help preparing for the GED.  She also finds immense joy as a Sunday School Teacher for the teen group at her church.

Mia believes that giving our youth the power of education will open doors to opportunities they did not know existed.  She believes that George Washington Carver, the first black agricultural scientist, said it best with his quote, “Education is the key that unlocks the golden door of freedom.”  Her goal is to help our youth find their freedom.
